Dave1647545494
if the piston is up in the bore and it won't start pointed at number one turn the rotor 180 and put it back in that should be close enough to run

Stimmel1647545512
timing is doing nothing not making anything sound or performance wise i think one or two of the rockers backed off cant wait to take the upper intake off and the valve cover then come to find that all the rockers are perfectly fine

twistedfocus1647545489
Maybe I'm mis-reading, but are you setting your base timing (~12deg) with the SPOUT connector out? You should be. I assume you know that, but I read it as you're setting it to 12deg with the connector in and it's 30ish with it out, which means your base timing advance is actually 30, not 12. Miller
Is this a new engine or did you just put a new piston on the old one?

Stimmel1647545512
you worn out bottom end? it was fine before i took the head off not fine but not making any sounds the only reason i took the car apart was to put stock valve covers back on it if i would of left it alone it would be fine i did head gasket with new everyhting followed the ford book did everyhting properly i even heat cycled it and re torqued the head and rockers still nothing i have done the tdc trick numerous times still nothing the sounds seems to go away with rpm im about to go take it around the block but prob wont leave the driveway what causes an intermitten knock in no sort or rythm or pattern what so ever
Stimmel1647545512
just drove it for about 5 minutes the driveability is alot better i dunno how far i want to drive it tho it isnt backfiring as bad allthought it did do it once when i put the clutch in switching gears and also broke up pretty bad around 3500rpm in neutral i sat in the driveway brought the rpms up to around 1800 help it constant for about a solid 45 seconds never heard the sounds nor did the car skip a beat any ideas or should i keep messing with the timing and just hope im off a tooth?
