Everyone,

Just found out my cam/lifters are gone... Going to pick out one this week.

I Love the nasty sounding cam's and want to do that to mine, but did not want to go to big and lose the weekend streetablity. With the current mod's I have done to my motor, can support hyd, solid flat tappet setup. Did not want to spend the money for a roller setup at this time. I was thinking of something along these lines

money for a roller setup at this time. I was thinking of something along this lines..

or

Is that to crazy?

get a hydraulic cam, set it once and never worry about it again.

I would recommend this Lunati VooDoo, Designed by the same guy who designed alot of comp cams cams including most if not all the xtreme series.

and choice of lifters

Should be fairly close to what you had if not a tad bigger, with a cam as big as what you were looking at, i think you'd need different gears. And the combo i posted is less money also which is nice.

junk...

these are bad about wiping cams...needs more oiling mods.

id say go roller.. i'd call scotty j and have him grind you a custom grind... you can run a howards roller cam on the cheap..(not dirt cheap, but still)

but you still need to pull it and get all the metal out of it. and before i even think about recommending any cam profile, i need to know more of your setup

over bored?

cr

intake

carb size

head work, air flow numbers(i have most of the numbers charted if you dont know. stock heads stock and valved , ported etc etc. )

trans, converter, gearing etc etc...more input

i have a high cr in mine, and it bleeds off just enough ;). but i hit my goal of over 500ftlbs from 3500-6500..(peaking at 582 at 4800 or some shit). the duration on these motors play the biggest roll. lobe seperation does more then just make the idle sound cool

and heres is some good readin for you dan http://www.460ford.com/forum/showthread.php?t=103491

Shortblock from what I was told is built..

.040 over, Head's are DoveC w/ double valve springs SS valves stock size, light port work to match Weined stealth intake manny, 850 carb, 3.70 gears 3000 stall conv.

I drained the oil, it's clean.

When I get new camshaft and get ready to break it in. Which is a good choice of oil and breakin aditive?

Thanks,

Dan

Lubriplate 15-40 with a bottle of GM EOS in for break in.

Thats what we run in the 68 always comes out clean. I'll talk to my dad and see where he buys it online, but it ends up being like 3.75 or 4 dollars a quart shipped to your door.

Engine is apart, block casting number is D1VE-6015-A2B, newer pistons installed bore measures 4.385, taking it to a shop for rebuild tomorrow..

Everything is appart, heads leaving for work, block is bare, bore's look good...crank need's some polishing w/new bearings rod, and main. Kieth black pistons flat top .030 over w/stock rod's. The internal upgrade is on hold till another day. Going to just put back together the way it is for now. Found some good headers for the car that is where I need to put some money anyway...

Can't wait to get it back together..
