evan9381
long post, but its because theyre great to deal with. checked with 4 companies before i went with them...they came out to measure and give me an estimate (only one other did this, the other 2 i had to take a drawing/measurements to them), didnt nickle and dime the fuck out of me. they advertised at $/sq ft, called, the stuff i wanted was a level up, so they told me $45.99 sq/ft installed with undermount sink. when he gave me the quote, it was $45.99 sq/ft + tax. the others advertised a price, but then wanted so much for edging, so much for a curve on the corner, a lot for a sink cut out, sink was extra, $ to come make a template, etc. added up quick. the only downside, if i could even call it that, was a *tad* longer wait time. it sucked a little for me since i didnt have countertops, but i was without a kitchen for 2 weeks, i could do some time without tops. other places told me between 5-10 days, SCLLC said mid june because i would have to go pick out my stone. he called the office though, turned out they had one slab of the stone i wanted, and if i wanted to look at it and liked it, they could get me in by end of month. when i went down on 5/10 and saw the stone, it was perfect. top 3 of all santa cecilia stones ive seen. told them i'd take it, set up installation for 2.5 weeks out. guys came out yesterday, installed countertops, backsplash, and sink in about an hour. couldnt understand a single word they were saying, but oh well. so if you need granite on the cheap, Stone City LLC. theyre on huntley rd right next to the budweiser plant. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_3262-1.jpg?1274934801 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_3263-1.jpg?1274934801 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_3264-1.jpg?1274934801 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_3265.jpg?1274935004 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_3266.jpg?1274935004 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_3267.jpg?1274935004 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_3268.jpg?1274935004 http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/evan938/IMG_3269.jpg?1274935004 Edited May 27, 2010 by evan9381
Buck531
Don't you need GFI outlets in the kitchen? (around the sink area? You said $45/sq ft. How much total was your counter top? I need about half of what you have to do my kitchen. Nice remodel btw. I have the same light in my basement as you do your kitchen .

When (and some day) I redo my kitchen I'll have to hit 'em up. Did they come out and install it too?
evan9381
yep. that price was for everything. measure, cut, sink, install, tax, etc. and another nice thing, is i put down like $700 (i guess its usually 50% but since i had so many charges on my CC from remodel stuff, they let me do a little less), they said i wouldn't pay the rest until they came out and installed and i made sure it was as it should be. that added some peace of mind

Sully
Don't you need GFI outlets in the kitchen? (around the sink area? Yes and no. You do need a GFI on a circuit that goes near water. You place the GFI outlet on the first outlet of the circuit. So, looking at his kitchen, it looks like there's 4 outlets. Let's say that all 4 outlets are on the same circuit. Let's also just say that the outlet all the way to the right is the first outlet on that circuit. You would put your GFI outlet there. All the rest of the outlets will then be protected by that one GFI.
