I thought the vehicle has to b 25 yrs old reason my 82 s10 has them and the 89 blazer dont!

 

i beleve 25+ years qualifies for historical plates

I've got them on my Cobra. All I had to do was show them my SVT Certificate. Since my SVT Contour is my daily driver, I don't want collector plates for it. Plus I don't want to pay extra for them. The SVT Contour should qualify because it was a limited run production car.

 

And those of you bagging on them, EAD. They are a fun, low cost car. 26 MPG, 5 speed, 4 doors, and they handle really, really well. Best $5K I ever spent on a car. I've put almost 50K miles on mine in almost 4 years without one problem. I'll be driving it into the ground... :nod:

I did it because I originally thought it meant no front plate was required. This is incorrect, however most police don't know that. It has worked for me once so far, so basically it paid for itself that year.

Where on oplates.com do I look to see what fees would be for historical/collector plates?

 

This would be for Cleetus. $50 a year for personalized plates is starting to go against my better judgment. I won't get rid of them unless I can get some other plate for cheap.

 

I like the white OHIO historical plates...

 

The nice thing about the historical tags is that you only pay for them once. I know they were less than $50. I hated to get rid of my personlaized plates on my 51, but I couldn't justify $90 a year for a car that I don't drive much.

I thought I read that Collector plates are exempt from emissions. That could come in handy should Columbus ever get emissions testing. But I'm not 100% sure on that...

They are. In my case, it's also a discount on my car insurance for the Formula.

Is there a site that can tell you how many of your type of car was made that year?

For every car ever? Not that I've ever found. For cars that have any type of following some nerd somewhere out there somewhere compiled a list from factory records. A car like a mustang, yeah you'll find it. Google it.
