I let my brother transform a plane-jane M1a into a long range zombie SQDM plinking machine.

Quick run down,

Troy Battle Rail (excellent product)

Nikon Monarch 4-16x, Mildot

SadLak/Smith/Fulton internals

Fulton NM 22" barrel

USGI Flash Hider

Not pictured is the adjustable cheek rest that was mounted after the pictures. All things being considered, it's a very comfortable fit now.

Nice rifle. I haven't seen that rail before... how does it attach to the receiver?

I've seen a few M14's like this myself. I know the plastic "heat shield" or upper hand guard is removed, but I can't remember how it attatches to the rear sight post.

When I pick up the M1A Scout Squad I'm buying, this was the most considerable option I was going to go with besides the Troy stock system or the Sage EBR set up. Both of which, I'm not 100% crazy about.

Edit- Attatches to the screw hole by the bolt catch. Like the old style scope mounts did.

I decided to use the ARMS #18 mount on mine just so I could still use the iron sights. With the ARMS #22 lever rings removed, the top of the mount sits just below the iron sights - very low!

The ARMS #18 attaches in the side mount hole and fits into the dove tail groove with the stripper clip guide removed. It also makes contact with top of the receiver at the front of the mount for stability.

I love the crystal clear optics of the Nikons, too.

I see my brown rail and I want it painted black

No brown anymore I want it to turn black

I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes

I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

I see a line of guns and they're all painted black

With flowers and my love both never to come back

I see people turn their heads and quickly look away

Like a new born baby it just happens every day

I look inside myself and see my heart is black

I see my brown rail, I must have it painted black

Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts

It's not easy facin' up when your whole world is black

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue

I could not foresee this thing happening to you

If I look hard enough into the settin' sun

My love will laugh with me before the mornin' comes

I see a brown rail and I want it painted black

No brown anymore I want it to turn black

I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes

I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

I wanna see your face, painted with lead

Black as night, black as coal

I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky

I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black

where's this from?

I liked the ARMS mounts to a point, but even with locktite, it seemed to get a little loose. Granted, the conditions mine operated in, were a bit extreme. I would love to check that Troy rail out Nate.

My old M14, ARMS mount with a Leupold Mark 4.
