04silvrz
So, I am considering trading my Nissan in on a new ride. Here is my list. My budget would be 20K. All car are 2000 - 2005 models. C5 Corvette - 350HP BMW M5 - 400HP Jaguar S type - R - 400HP Mercedes-Benz CLK or SL - CLK 350HP / SL 400HP Pontiac GTO 05+ - 400HP Thoughts on what is the best handling and cheapest to get the most HP with bolt-ons and cams. I am guessing most will say C5, but I am curious as to peoples opinions.

Littleguy
Honestly, with a 20K budget I would highly consider saving for another month or two and getting into a early C6. More powerful and much more fun than the other cars on your list.
Draco-REX
The thing about the BMW, Jag, and Benz is that they are priced that low on the used market because once they are out of warranty they are $$$ to fix, and they usually have a slew of fixes that have to be done in the next few years. Only way to buy one would be to find out all the common problems (ball joints, bushings, timing components, etc) and then track one down with documentation that the work has been done. iwashmycar
With bolt-ons and cams... GTO or vette best handling with the above. vette but in the end a m5 is definately more refined, still quick and still handles.
pontiacfreak142
hell for 20k you could get a C5 Z06. They are a blast to drive and have 405 hp to.

I suppose I could just try to sell my car first, I only owe like 6K on my car now.

I like the C6 idea though, I could wait till next spring and maybe snag one of those in my price range.

04silvrz
yeah, i have looked at those. don't know much about them, are the 2004ish models good cars? that car is right at the verge of my price range too, it would have to have high miles to get it under 20k

Euro cars cost twice as much to maintain, the jag is an over priced ford taurus or whatever ford platform its built on, so I'd go with the vette
