I registered the car in Georgia and on base here in NC around April and have been driving it off and on ever since. Today, however, while eating at a pizza joint on base for lunch, some gentlemen from the base Safety Office advised me that the car didn't abide by base regulations in regards to certain equipment (or lack there of). They proceeded to call the Provost Marshalls Office (PMO/Military Police) who escorted me off base and scraped the base decal from my windshield. I spent the rest of the afternoon researching the base regulations as well as NC and GA's regulations. I found that because its registered as an actual 1928, it is exempt from many regulations that normally would apply, however, when it comes to base regulations (set by the Commanding Officer) they are in black and white with very little wiggle room. Technically it isn't 100% street legal (how many street/rat rods actually are, right?), and so I'm not going to do a whole lot of arguing with it. This brings me to the sale. I've put a lot of time, money, and effort into it, and have had a blast doing so. I could go ahead and do the work to install things like a full exhaust with mufflers, license plate lights, turn signals, seat belts, etc., but I feel that these things would detract from the nature of the vehicle (a bare-bones rat rod). Chances are I could most likely continue to drive it off base without any repercussions, but honestly that isn't the point. I'd like to drive it to and from work, and where ever else I please, but per base regulations that simply isn't going to be possible. I don't want to blow smoke up anyone's ass and make it out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Its a genuine, hand built vehicle, so any interested buyers need to keep that in mind. It has its fair share of leaks, vibrations, noises, and mechanical defects. I don't believe any of these issues are unfixable or out of the realm of the individuals on this board to remedy. I'm more than willing to answer any questions that I can and will provide as many pictures as necessary. Here's the list... The body is an original '28 Model A that has been chopped and channeled 5 inches. Its been shortened a few inches as well. The frame is hand built. Currently its running a carbureted Chevy 5.3L V8 w/ automatic transmission, both of which came out of a 2005-ish Tahoe. The wiring is a little rough, pretty much exactly what you would expect from a home built vehicle. We just installed a new TCI flexplate and MSD starter yesterday so it fires right up. The carburetor could probably use a tune or rebuild, it does studder a bit when you first get on the throttle. It idles nicely once its warmed up though. If you're interesting in a rat rod/street rod/project car, but don't have the time or ability to start from scratch, than this is perfect. I want to pass it on to someone else for the reasons listed above. In conclusion... I'm asking $12,500 OBO for it, but honestly I'm more interested in trading. I'll consider just about anything. If its old, cool, and in good condition send it my way. Examples include 454 Chevelle, Datsun 510, Delorean, etc. The list is pretty much endless and just as diverse. I'm in eastern NC and more than willing to trailer it up to Ohio. Any comments, suggestions, etc. are welcome. I actually just bought a 2008 F350 Powerstroke. Not hugely into Corvettes, but I'll consider it anyways. Shoot me a PM with details, pics, etc. Also, here's some additional info that I failed to include in the original post... It does not, I repeat, DOES NOT have a title. I registered it in Georgia due to how laxed their laws are in regards to "antique" vehicles. This will obviously make it relatively difficult when registering it in Ohio (Highway Patrol inspection, etc.). After all, it was pretty much built piece by piece. I can't say that I'm a fan of either. Looking for something older than a '94. Still, thanks for the interest guys. My roommate with the '69 Dodge Dart has spent the entire day trying to justify me keeping it. Bouncing around ideas of taking the engine back to fuel injection and twin turboing it.
