Seen that vid. Pretty cool. With the barn owl, which is near the same size, it puffs up to appear bigger and more frightening. However, with the larger bird of prey, they will generally mimic a branch or other birds of prey that seem more aggressive or less tasty to whatever is threatening it.

 

Not 100% on what kind of owl but I believe it's a type of Scops-owl. However, more than one species is capable of this behaviour.
