Erica
Sean has wanted to go skydiving for a long time but frankly I am terrified...Not of heights or falling out of a perfectly good plane but of the shoot not opening. Please post info of good experiences and good local places to go. Thanks!
ObliqueFD
I skydived 2 weeks ago in Lancaster. It was an awesome experience and I now plan on eventually getting my license someday. http://www.skydivecmh.com
Main3s
Went to Skydivecmh.com down in Lancaster about a month ago. It was great, I kind of felt the same way at first but after going it's not at ALL as scary as what you hype it up to be. Things I learned... There are 2 main reason a shoot doesn't open. A "line cross", where 2 or more lines to the shoot get crossed and cause teh shoot not to open fully or B a line over, where a line or 2 winds up over the canopy and causes it not to full open. In either case you have a reserve. And from what I read, both are rare, something like 1 in every 1,200 jumps for an individual. Packing a shoot isn't that high tech or complicated. Apart from keeping the lines straight the biggest thing is how many folds are in it. The more folds, the slower the shoot opens and the less it jerks you after it opens. The place I went to moves 40-50 people per day (Saturday and Sunday) so 100 people per weekend. To me that's more like an amusement park ride, They literally have people taking off in the front of the hanger while others are landing in the back. It was amazing although I really doubt you can get the full experience after 1 jump, it's just system overload.

smokin5s
I did this probably 10 year ago, it was a tandem jump because it was my first time and when I told the guy to go screw himself when he told me to step out on the step, he just fell backwards and there we went.... you seriously don't feel like you are falling until the shute opens... With that being said, would I do it again? probably not, it was too expensive for a 5 minute rush.
ImUrOBGYN
This was over 10yrs ago, but it was $250 to ride up in a hot air balloon and bungie from it. I would love to go sky diving, but like mentioned above, just seems so pricey. One day, one day.

Erica
It does seem like a lot of money but I would gladly pay that for a safe jump...Maybe we should get a group together.

Main3s
Why do skydivers wear helmets? So if you bust your head on the wing or wheel of the plane or collide with another diver during free fall (at 120+mph) you don't knock yourself out and are then unable to pull your chute? ImUrOBGYN
Why do skydivers wear helmets? So you live long enough to feel the pain.
