CRed05
Ok, compare this phone to the droid if you would please. The hardware is better than the droid in every way. I do still prefer vanilla android over samsung's modified but it's still good I think. I don't think the droid even compares really. ORLY? http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSk3nTO4qiFaHAFF0VXz7KLSF0Lz7zNgDVA8SmWoPl1UqWa8Zk&t=1&usg=__cGnEFZiSQtRWun_YWN2dx4LUYRs= Not to be confused with OPP

CRed05
vanilla android? is it something i as a user can notice or no? Yes you definitely notice it. Typical Galaxy home page http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ4YDfgKdKLW1HRanq8p9bE7xYRMw1eSXxc3TVorxy8lzofPB4&t=1&usg=__oZZPQ5np-qdTJo8DB231UsP_w5Y= Typical vanilla (stock as it comes from google) layout on left, HTC Sense on right http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRewyVI3VUwYcYdl9l3JYrhbjOftMFTQ6MxJs2-ZZ9cek-Nw3w&t=1&usg=__K0zT95h1XiiDZbN8lX7b_8-XpvE= On vanilla android and sense, when you open the app drawer you scroll up and down, on the galaxy you scroll sideways. It's just interface and visual changes mostly.
Rally Pat
I had an 8gig 3g for a long time before getting my 16 gig 3GS. 8 is enough to get by, and if you want to bring your entire media connection with you, you can use Orb. Its an app that streams music and video from your house to your phone.

CRed05
Looks stupid to me. Anyway to change it? Well you can move shit around and add whatever background/widgets/shortcuts/folders you want, but the way you have the iphone-like dock at the bottom is unique to the samsung and I dont think you can get rid of it without using a home replacement app, or rooting. Heres are screenshot of someone's phone, it's really not bad, I'd take it over Sense any day. http://androidforums.com/attachments/samsung-fascinate/11305d1284856296-post-your-screenshots-wallpaper-fascinate-4-.png http://androidforums.com/attachments/samsung-fascinate/11306d1284856296-post-your-screenshots-wallpaper-fascinate-5-.png http://androidforums.com/attachments/samsung-fascinate/11303d1284856296-post-your-screenshots-wallpaper-fascinate-2-.png

Radio Flyer1647545514
I took the galaxy S over the Iphone. You can use Pandora Radio to make up for music. The Galaxy is comes with 16gb of memory stock and allows you to add another 32gb via micro sd.

Nitrousbird
32gb + jailbreak. I can't even keep all my music and apps on my 16gb 3GS
sol740
Yeah, there are many purely stylistic options you can make with pretty much any android phone. Between, custom launchers, widgets, icons. You should be relatively familiar with all this coming from the Droid . I'm currently running Cyanogen 6, and Launcherpro/Quickdesk on the Evo, and I'm loving it. Plus if you install Apps Organizer, it really helps keep your pages clean. Putty
I'm currently running Cyanogen 6, I considered this, but no 4g, hdmi, FM....plus no sense is nonsense!! The rom and kernel I am running will give me two days of batt life on the evo with my type of daily use. I'm in a happy place and I flashed a whole helluva lot to find this place. What kernel ? HDMI, and FM really don't bother me at all, but 4G absolutely will once I am able to get it. However I know Cyan is working on it, so I can be patient. Supposedly 6.1 will have the 4G radio. Overall its easily the snappiest ROM I've flashed so far. Also while I really liked SenseUI, I like the Launcherpro UI a little better. Putty
Nice ! What kernel ? . I'm running Baked Snacks 1.75 w/ Netarchys 4.1.9 HAVS beta BFS kernel. I tried all the baked kernels, Kingz and 1/2 others. Nothing worked like this minus SetCPU profiles, just a 1228mhz overclock on main running conservative. Putty
How'd you get that. im liking it I am using a different launcher. It changes all the time. Notice the dock swipes from apps to quick dials. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/CLovaR1/snap20100922_222351.pnghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/CLovaR1/snap20100922_222330.png

unfunnyryan
Most apps are on the market anyway so it's not really a big deal. If you really wanted to load a non-market app you can still do it with ADB. Was going to say just use ADB. Its how I install all the 3rd party apps on my phone (I use terminal daily on my mac, its just simple for me) Is there root for the galaxy phones yet? I'm thinking of upgrading my droid soon.
