Nitrousbird Posted November 19, 2010 Report Share Posted November 19, 2010 I want to upgrade my wife's 5 year Dell. - $300 budget - Must be in perfect or near perfect condition - Widescreen, at least 14" - If it has a "point stick" (little mouse control thing between the keys), that is a big plus, as she HATES touch pads and refuses to use them - Must have an Aero capable video processor - I DO NOT WANT YOUR SOFTWARE. Keep it, as I will be formatting it anyway. It is 100% worthless to me. - Dual core processor - At least 1GB Ram, prefer 2GB+ - At least 60GB HD, prefer bigger, really prefer solid state, but likely not going to find that at this price point. ANYTHING new (Microcenter, Tigerdirect, Newegg, E-bay, etc.) at ~$300 is a single core processor. Only laptop under $350 at Microcenter that has a dual core is a $300 refurb Dell, with a low-end Core Duo processor and not widescreen. Not a good deal at all. I might have to check that out. I've found several used deals on E-bay that fit what I want and then some, so I may go that route.
