Air Compressor

Looking into getting an air compressor for strut/suspension work. Anyone have any preferences? Are some louder then others? (noise is going to be a big concern). Edited December 6, 2010 by acklac7

I have a harbor freight one that I got on sale for $40. Its big enough for shade tree work, but I wouldn't use it for jobs. Pretty loud too, but it gets the job done and even though I've read reports of them exploding I've left mine cycling on/off due to forgetting about it for weeks at a time and have had good luck.

thanks for the offers but if im going to buy one i'd like to get a manufacturers warranty with it. Probably going to get a craftsman as bascially all my other tools are from sears.

check lowes just cause hand tools are great doesnt mean there compressors are sexors

If you want low noise do not buy an oilless compressor

If it makes you feel any better about harbor freight, they have a warranty. I've even used the warranty on other power tools there and it works perfectly. Just return to store for a new one. (hehe even obviously misused drills)

I love my Craftsman. I don't remember the cost, but it wasn't bad. Came with an air ratchet, impact gun, air hammer and 25' air hose. Everything has worked flawlessly for me. I use it pretty lightly though, not like a real shop would.
