Browning Posted December 10, 2010 Report Share Posted December 10, 2010 It's one of the s10 jimmys, not the full size. 2.8 liter. Just died all together cruising down 70. No missing or anything first, just straight died and won't start. Got there and checked the spark at the #1 plug and no spark. Checkedforsparkat both sides of the coil wire and nothing. NAPA says it ismost likely the ignition module and toldme I'd be best to buy the whole distributorand drop it in. I'd rather not do this. TA In Progress Posted December 10, 2010 Report Share Posted December 10, 2010 You should be able to have the module tested to confirm that it's bad, but it sounds like a definite possibility from what you describe. Would be nice if that is it and I don't have to go through a bunchof other crap to figure it out. Any idea if they can test a coil also? Patterson Posted December 10, 2010 Report Share Posted December 10, 2010 Definiely the control module. They have a Epoxy inside to help with the circuitry cooling that dries up over time. Dave1647545494 Posted December 11, 2010 Report Share Posted December 11, 2010 you just do a resistance test on the coil easy to do with a meter and a repair guide have the module tested before you toss parts at it and inspect the magnetic pickup in the bottom of the distributor sometimes they corrode and fall apart Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
