2pointslow
so i slid into a curb, bent the right side outer tie rod. The part is 45.00 online, now how hard is it to replace. What all is required to replace the part? I dont really want to take it to the stealership. My dad is convinced we need some special tools to replace it. Cordell
Highly doubt you'd need anything special to replace an outer tie rod, however usually it would be the inner tie rod that gets bent and would likely need a special tool. Replace either of them and you really should do an alignment.
99FLHRCI
Checked AllDataPro. If it is similar to the 2009 Sedan it should be no big deal to do an outer. Socket to take nut off and a hammer or hammer and pickle fork to take to loose from the knuckle then wrenches to separate inner and outer. If it is the inner, which I also would suspect, it will probably need an inner tie rod tool. Hit me up if you want to borrow one.
