Third Times a Charm: 1996 Subaru EG33 Flat 6 swap

Okay, so over the weekend, we got the Legacy finished. Did headgaskets, timing belt, water pump, intake manifold gaskets, and exhaust. The timing was off 3 or 4 teeth on one head, so no wonder it ran like shit, in addition to the blown headgaskets. Thats done now, and all it needs is to get legal so I can drive it.

As of today, we are still on for this coming weekend to rip in to the SVX. The harness guy is waiting on me to get that done, and he says that he actually has a harness already ready to go, so it won't take long to get it back. If all goes according to plan (Read: IF), all of the mechanical parts of the swap should be completed weekend after next. I am not going to worry about replacing anything on the engine itself except for the wired in blaster coil. I want to get the car running first. Things are looking good, though.

If anyone has any snow tires or rally tires they want to get rid of that fit my Impreza, let me know.

Anyway, I lost my shop space I had reserved today to work on the SVX, so I am going to see what I can accomplish in the driveway. I also have to work on Patrick's RX-7 because we might be autocrossing it tomorrow, so that needs some attention too.

Made some progress today, took most of the dash apart and was very careful not to hurt the harness in any way.

Rain finally cleared up enough for me to make progress. The rest of the harness is out, and most of the engine is disconnected. Hoping to take it out during the rapture.

Harness got shipped out today. The guy its going to already has one ready to go, so the turn around should be pretty quick. Now I need some Group N or stiffer engine mounts. After that, I will have everything I need to put the motor in the car and hook it up. Still have to deal with cooling it, but at the very least it will be startable. Will also probably pick up the OEM gasket kit from Subaru and give all the seals a freshing up before tossing it back in.
