Intercooler cause overheating?

Hey all-

Thinking about a custom intercooler setup- I don't have that much room to move the radiator back so the two will probably be pretty close- I see pictures of setups on for example corvettes directly in front of the radiator and as big if not wider and I can't believe the radiator gets any airflow at all...

How does this work?

Thanks,

Andrew

The same way air still cools the radiator after passing through an A/C condenser, transmission cooler, P/S cooler, fuel cooler, etc. It is not optimum but unless your front end is 8' x 10' you eventually have to stack stuff. From the factory my car has an oil cooler in front of the condenser in front of the radiator. I added an intercooler in front of that and have not had any problems. Being that the intercooler is in front, it gets the coolest air and warms as it passes through each layer. My guess is the pics you have seen have the intercooler in front of the condenser. You can rarely see the radiator from the front on modern cars.

Why not have a custom intercooler made with a duct?... Ive seen them on many Vettes and or V8 swapped cars... Not to mention your car has brake ducts to the front wheels. thus Ive seen them hidden inside of there before for super secret setups...

Just sayin

thats a good idea shanton with the duct- I guess I could put it where the AC condenser was but there is a short transmission cooler there now and an oversized radiator with dual electric fans so hopefully all should be good- I was just curious how much hotter cars typically ran and if it was a common issue with that hot intercooler hogging up all the air.
