Wes Stone
Selling my Colt 1911 Gov't 45acp. I do not have the box or anything for this gun. Very clean. Has an SM serial which means it has a Colt Ace frame and 45 action. Colt shipped several of these guns that way. Very clean gun. Asking $1000 obo http://i311.photobucket.com/albums/kk457/stoney667/Colt%2045/IMG_7826.jpg http://i311.photobucket.com/albums/kk457/stoney667/Colt%2045/IMG_7828.jpg http://i311.photobucket.com/albums/kk457/stoney667/Colt%2045/IMG_7827.jpg http://i311.photobucket.com/albums/kk457/stoney667/Colt%2045/IMG_7829.jpg

Scotty2Hotty
Wish I was still in Ohio at the moment, I'd take it off your hands. You should have no trouble with selling a colt.
BrianZ06
Nice looking colt. I bet it has not been shot much. Not even a take down scratch. Looks to be all original. I'm wanting to find a combat commander in satin finish. Good luck with sale.

customhillbilly
What are the differences between the ace frame and a standard 1911 .45 frame?
Wes Stone
That I cannot answer honestly. I wouldn't imagine much. I tried to do some researching and couldn't come up with anything.
Scotty2Hotty
The Colt Ace was a 1911 chambered in .22. Basically a pistol made to practice with, but was a true 1911, in .22. From what I have heard, a hood majority of Colt parts are interchangeable. Not 100% sure on the Ace frame #'s, but it could be worth more if it was rare. I'm not that knowledgable about Colts to tell you, but Andy @ Blackwing could tell ya.
Wes Stone
Yes it could be worth more if rare, i've called colt only to sit on hold and be told to call archives on Wed which I have done and left messages with no call backs. This is a Service Model Ace Frame with a 45acp 70 Series Slide/Action. There is basically no way to tell if the gun was shipped this way or its a conversion kit. Either way I know the gun was shipped in 1982. It also shoots awesome! Anyone interested? Going on gunbroker soon.
ross
I believe the frame was produced in 1980 based off of similar models serial range at the time around when you say it was shipped. Also found a few questions in my search of people asking value and production date of guns with close serials to yours.
Wes Stone
So are we thinking it was shipped as a .22 or .45?
ross
.22 Slide would have had the "Ace" inside a diamond on both sides of the slide. Left side would have said "Colt Service Model .22 Long Rifle" Here's an example of one on gunbroker.com http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=255035109
Wes Stone
I know the upper is a 45acp. What i really want to know is if Colt shipped this gun as a .22 or .45. That makes the big difference in what its worth really. Either way its a nice shooting gun. Anyone interested for $
