Im not really sure. I was mainly focused on what was going on with the group of people we were down there with and didnt pay alot of attention to much else. Between runs, going over logs, and prepping for the next run, I really didnt get to watch too much.

What did your car dyno? IIRC it is supercharged right?

My only "Frame of reference" around 180mph is a stock ZR1 which is in the 184-187 range.

Just curious since most of the Vortech'd 2011 5.0's we have done have made 550-585rwhp depending on other mods and that is just above what a stock ZR1 puts down (55x).

Interesting what aero and weight and gearing and such does with similar power levels.

That supersnake sure looks familiar....;)

If you are talking about Chris' I am surprised he wasn't there. He said it was going to be harder to get back with his new contract but he tries not to miss very many. Now that his Z06 is back to a 6-speed it would have been there as well :)

Does the mile events require a cage in every car. i know salt flat racing does as well as onboard fire system.

You can run the Texas Mile up to 190mph without a cage. Above 190 requires a bar and I believe above 200 requires a full cage. All cars have to have a in car extinguisher and you must where an approved helmet and gloves. They are actually pretty lenient....

Roush TVS on 10 lbs. Made 640 on race gas on the dyno.

All in all, I would say 180.2 on 10 psi through the stock block is pretty impressive for that car. There was only 1 other 5.0 faster than that out there and he ran a 181 on a built motor with a 2.9 whipple on 13 psi......I didnt see that pass or I would have made another with a bit more aggressive file in my car, a few aero changes, and running a slightly shorter tire. I think 182-183 would have been highly doable with what I had available to me to work with. At the time, the next fastest 5.0 I had seen only ran 165.5. My goal was to hit 180 and come back with the car in one piece and running like it did before we left Ohio. I hit both of those and packed up while I was ahead.

Awesome, Congrats!

Any plans to try to exceed 180 this year? I'll be at the Texas mile in March.

Not really. We had planned to head down with a friend of mine whos car we are doing currently but we are going to be a little close on the deadline and he would like to have some time to get the car broke in and work out any bugs with the new combination. Im not sure about the october event yet. Ill have to wait and see how the year plays out. I think if I want to go much faster in my car, I will want to do it with a roll bar at a minimum. Im torn on doing it in the car though as my kids love to ride in it and with a roll bar in there, that pretty much goes out the window.....I didnt mind taking the risk to run at those speeds the one time but it is not something I would want to do on a consistent basis without the safety equipment. Too much to live for and the risk isnt worth the reward if something were to happen.
