Gaming but no mic? Hmmm. I have tritton AX Pros and they are AMAZING. Just over your budget but absolutely worth it IMO. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Tritton+Technologies+-+AX+720+Gaming+Audio+System+for+Xbox%2C+PS3+and+Mac/Windows/9466124.p?id=1218109500597&skuId=9466124&st=tritton&cp=1&lp=7

Sell gift card, buy a pair of Grados, never look back.

This.

I was soo close to getting a set of the 225's however I use my headphones at work and couldn't do the open air design without disrupting others around me. They are the most amazing headphones I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. Just couldn't justify it for limited use

I don't often back Bose products but I honestly think that for the money their basic Tri-port headphones ($150 I think) have very good sound quality. Maybe a little heavy on the Bass but I like stuff that way so they fit my needs fine.

Being pretty rough on headphones and going through a pair of Tri-Port's about every year (my own fault not the product...I use them detailing, at the gym, etc they get knocked around a good bit), I decided to try to find something cheaper this last go around and the Sennheiser HD428's are what I wound up with. $50-80 depending on where you get them. Sound quality not on par with the Bose, certainly not the Grado howevr it's not bad by any means and I won't feel as bad when I bust them up.

"Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and thinks everyone else's stinks."

for inexpensive headphones, i agree with you that skullcandy are the way to go. i've got a cheap pair of earbuds at home that are way better than any sony, apple, etc earbud i've used that cost < $30.

and FYI my opinions are facts, supported by unflinching confidence
