Rocky31186
Went to lima ohio for some family time and wanted to snap some pictures of trains. My father in law is a conductor so he got me into the train yard without getting in touble. Here are a couple I took, nothing special.. http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/CSX.jpg http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/CSX2.jpg http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/CSX3.jpg http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/CSX6.jpg http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr133/probin007/CSX4.jpg
Nickey4271647545519
All the trains in Lima are one of the few things I enjoy up there. Has to be pretty neat to walking around the train yard.
Rocky31186
The train yard was dead. Everyone was off. So I could pretty much walk around anywhere I want. I wanted to find some that had graffiti on the side. But they didnt have any that I could see. I had more pictures, but for some reason I had it in RAW mode, and my lap top will not load RAW photos.. So I had to manually changes these photos on my camera to JPG And ive never been upclose to a train like that, so it was a experience to me. I was reading the meter on the side, it had 2950 gallons of fuel left in it. And they run all weekend when not in use. I didnt know that either. Not Brian
My family's been working on the railroad since my great grandfather (I conducted them to Toledo and back for about a year before getting laid off). Every time we passed Fostoria there were groups of foamers (term we call people who foam at the mouth at trains) taking pictures and waving and stuff. I felt like some kind of superhero waving back at them out the window. Anyways that widebody in pic 3 looks a little old but it's the most comfy of the pics.. both the engineer and conductor each get their own cushy seat and desk, with a trainee chair in the middle. Those other yard movers were designed for pushing shit around the yard to makeup the trains for the widebodies to actually haul out on the main, but they're still used because it's reason #4592 CSX doesn't give a fuck about the people who move their freight anymore. They have secret operative teams always out in the bushes watching you making sure you do shit exactly by the books.. trying to fire you. It's a shitty company to work for. It's not even about moving freight, it's about following the 13 pounds of rule books. My dad is happily retiring in a year.
Rocky31186
About half of my wifes family still works for CSX. And they love it. Some retired, but others still working. They said its not like what it used to be, but its still a great job. I keep looking at job postings to apply. They send you to school for 6 months or something, and starting wage is like 45 grand. The 2678 train and the one behind it yes are "dummy" trains, they are remote controlled. They didnt have many engines in the yard for pictures.. That's pretty surprising. Almost all the trains I see in Lima have graffiti on them.
Not Brian
The training is in Atlanta for 6 weeks.. it's A LOT of learning crammed into a little bit of time but I had fun. I was 2nd in my class by like .2% or something. But yeah my dad keeps telling me Parsons yard is hiring conductors, where are you searching? Rocky31186
Yeah 6 weeks not 6 months. Lol. I'm searching for Columbus area. But was hoping a carman job would pop up. They have a set schedule and don't have to leave town.

I'm sure if I walked the tracks for 30 min I would find some. But close by I didn't see anything.
