School me on Air Dryers - painting a car

I have an 80gal standup air compressor that's served me well. There is an in-line pressure regulator with filter, and a water valve/"trap" at the bottom. It doesn't do too well. :) Noticible water in my air tools as they vent.

I'm looking to do a cheap paint job...probably won't be until the early spring. To do a cheap paint job, I'd rather not buy a $400 dryer...

Should I be worried about water in the lines for a cheap paint job?

From what I understand, yes. I think there are in-line dessicant dryers that are disposable. Should be cheaper in the short-term.

Yes, you will need some type of dryer in your line to your spray gun.

Great news! Any sources you recommend?

Now realizing that the air/water seperator I already have...would this use dessicant balls?

Cant help on where to get one. My stuff is high end stuff and I have been using my system over the past 20 years.
