Nino, since you have an 82 corolla, I would also check out the 3tc forums since puerto ricans are always doing over the top shit with anything corolla related.

 

You want to see how if you can find any 2/3rz engines(2.4-2.7cc 4 cylinder) locally cheap from Tacoma's. They bolt to the w58 and the r154 just needs a spacer to work.

 

I have been looking at both, the weight breaks for running a 2rz is very enticing but the limitations and initial cost to build it would be around the same as if I bought a 2jz that could go above and beyond what I could ever want to make for the corolla, the chassis will be able to hold either just deciding what I want to do and researching a lot.

The difference in the price isn't the engine per say(variable in availability), its your transmission options. If you go 2jz, then expect to spend 500-700 for the bellhousing/flywheel to put a r154 or w58 behind it. 6 speed is great, but people usually want their second born child for one.

 

To save you time if you ever need help with fabrication, I would honestly hit up Alex. Guy knows his stuff.

Made some decent progress today.

 

Exhaust manifold flanges and collector came in:

I appropriately sized the merge collector for the T6 flange and started welding:

The T6 flange was warped during the welding process so I had it CNC decked and port-matched:

 

 

 

I then mocked the turbo in place and started welding primaries:

Overall pretty satisfying day. I'll hopefully have the rest of the primaries tacked tomorrow and be ready to start finishing them by the end of the week.

As far as I know, Burns only offers thin-wall which I don't trust to hang a big turbo off of and have the manifold last. I went overkill and am building this out of schedule 40, but it will be crazy strong and durable once all's said and done.

 

I've welded galvenized and aluminized before: worst welding ever.
