My Camaro X275 build

Well as you can see in the video I wrecked the T/A at the shootout in Indy last October.

I could have fixed it but the car had an 8.50 cert and I needed more cage so it was not worth it to put the money into it. I knew by the time I straightened the frame and all the body work I could get a new roller for the same cost.

The next week I went and picked up my new roller. Some of you may recognize the car it belonged to Steve Turley of the Ohio Boys. The new car has an ATW intercooler and BS3, I believe every suspension part BMR makes, afco shock, dual caliper rear brakes, 25.5 chassis. Tons of nice parts and little tricks.

The basic idea of the project is to be competitive in X275, a very tough class to say the least. I started by teaming up with ERL and All Pro. The idea was to build an engine that would maximize the (relatively) small, bad assed, Precision X275 billet wheeled large frame turbo. After working out the plan with ERL we decided to start with there 4.125 bore 6 bolt superdeck block de-stroked from the 4” stroke that I had run in the past. Callies came through with their new Ultra XD rods and the new 2.200 big block journal crank. A set of killer Wiseco pistons will be rounding out the rotating assembly. A solid roller valve train will top off the lethal All Pro 12-1 heads and cast intake. As always Kurt Urban will be helping with his expertise I can’t say enough about how great these guys are to work with.

Peterson Fluid Systems got the nod on a five stage dry sump system.

Shearer fabrications will again be working his magic on all of the hot and cold side piping for the turbo. Im really happy to be working with Ron on another project.

I will be sticking with my trusty Rossler power glide transmission again this year. I contacted DEI and will be using their turbo blanket and titanium wrap and aluminized hose protectors; their stuff is beautiful and really works.

Time to get busy making it mine. I started mocking a few things up getting some idea’s and basically tearing the car apart figuring out how everything worked.

I didn’t like the Camaro dash and console so I decided tear it out. Later I will fit the gauges into the T/A dash and use it. Found the wiring in need of an update. The seat is the intercooler ice tank

that is one "cool" seat!

It is really kind of neat how they did it. Taking it out was interesting to say the least. There was some interesting material used for washers and spacers by the previous owner.

What about pics of that mount for the top fuel sized fuel pump?

Started Stripping the wrap and borrowed an intake and some heads From Bob at All Pro to do a mock up and check the hood for clearance. I held the old charge pipe up. You can see how much taller the intake is with the All Pro intake as apposed to the Carries intake that was on there. The elbow that is on there is not the elbow I will be using. Pictures of that later.
