thorne
Go used find something with a discrete graphics card and profit. Go out buy a nice SSD or a Hybrid Drive (I just bought one they kick ass) Max our the ram replace the battery. win764bit you will have a bad ass refurbished laptop for 300-500$ If you need help doing this let me know. Moores law is making new less appealing over refurbing a higher end used business laptop. ------------- If you want to go new then move up to the 1000$ level of laptop, Your getting a way better machine that will last longer and be way sturdier. MY new tuning laptop > both of my old tuning laptops

thorne
Paul what do you want in a laptop? Do you plan to take it places ? Allot ? (Weight/screensize considerations) Do you need long battery life? Screen size? Gaming (FPS/FlightSim/Racing/RPG)? OS? because if all you want is a device to surf the web and do basic tasks the EEE Transformer 10.1 is bad ass. Purchase the keyboard for it and you have ~16hrs of battery life. Very vivid screen and android 3.2 (4.0 soon) Don't you work at Chase?

gillbot
Outlet.dell.com google for coupons. I got a new Dell Inspiron 17R for around $400 delivered. Trouble Maker
Man I don't know about the newer ones but my Thinkpad R32 and R40 lasted forever We've always rocked T-series at work, we are VERY hard on laptops and the new and old ones have always been rock solid. I've got a Dell at home. I would have got a Lenovo in a heartbeat, but Dell's are a better bang-for-your-buck and at our price point we couldn't get a Lenovo.
