BradyPPC
Hey guys. Just thought I would share a few pics of a 3v we finished up a few weeks back. This car is a really fun car to drive and the power comes on nice and strong. Here is a quick breakdown of what the car has. Custom L&M 302ci shortblock Custom L&M cams Livernois camshaft lockouts 2.6 Kenne Bell Supercharger PPC custom fabricated intake C&R dual fan heat exchanger Roush intercooler resevoir Frpp intercooler pump frpp 80 lb/hr injectors frpp GT500 dual fuel pump kit Mcleod RXT twin disc clutch Magnaflow off road x pipe PPC custom axle back exhaust Metco billet lower control arms Metco driveshaft safety loop DSS one piece aluminum driveshaft The original plan was to add a 100hp dry shot of nitrous to the car on top of everything. We ended up a little higher on the fuel pump duty cycle than we anticipated and the customer lives in a rural area where there really are no nitrous fill stations. So rather than go the nitrous route, this car will be getting a stage 2 meth kit in the next few months. http://pickupspluscars.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=3685&g2_serialNumber=2 This is what the kenne bell supplied kit looked like when we got the car http://pickupspluscars.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=3669&g2_serialNumber=2 We quickly ditched the old 90mm lmaf setup kb used and fabricated an intake to put the original slot style maf in [/img]http://pickupspluscars.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=3673&g2_serialNumber=2[/img] This was the finished result http://pickupspluscars.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=5867&g2_serialNumber=2 http://pickupspluscars.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=5870&g2_serialNumber=2 The new shortblock is a thing of beauty http://pickupspluscars.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=5669&g2_serialNumber=2 The pistons are custom L&M with ceramic coated domes and teflon coated skirts http://pickupspluscars.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=5672&g2_serialNumber=2 The new C&R heat exchanger compared to the kenne bell unit http://pickupspluscars.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=3692&g2_serialNumber=2 We were pretty happy with the power considering it was on pump gas with a bit of torco through stock heads and stock exhaust manifolds! http://pickupspluscars.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=5876&g2_serialNumber=2 Again, thanks for taking the time to look! BradyPPC
The stock manifolds have to be killing power. I would say that is possible but at this point I think the big thing holding it back is the iat's. I havent seen much on any modular motor that we have done to convince me that longtube headers are worth the effort. I can give you plenty of GT500 examples where we have made the same power through the stock manifolds as we have with headers. I think the same goes for this car. This car really should make power to 7k rpm with the cams that are in it. On pump gas, the iats get hot enough towards the end of the run that we have to start softening the timing curve and it rounds over a bit early. With race fuel we could leave the timing in a bit further but on pump, better safe than sorry. I think once we get the iats cooled down a bit it will pick up another 20-30 up top. He may eventually throw headers on it as well.
