HID projector retrofit on the RX-7

So I had been playing around with the idea of doing an HID retrofit on the RX-7. If any of you have ever driven a car with sealed beam headlights you know how much they completely suck. I had sealed beam silverstars and they still really weren't great.

A guy on the V8 RX7 forum makes a retrofit. Usually I prefer to do everything myself but from what I understand (and my calls to the retrofit source) is that even with the smallest projectors, I would have to buy an H4 conversion and still have to cut out the back of the headlamp and seal the projector with epoxy or something. Which from what I've seen they look like crap.

The more important issue is that the projectors are long an require some sort of cutting behind to headlight to retain the pop-up function.

The retrofit really wasn't that expensive when you consider the part costs (morimoto ballasts). I can genuinely say these are awesome. Just need to aim them now.

Kevin just did this on a guy in Cinci's FD. I'm looking into it. Your pics show the needed differance that I was looking for. They are ugly when not lit, but these are flip up lights, problem solved.

Need to check the cost for the FD.

Glad to see they worked out for you Berto. Can't wait to see them in June when I'm in town for the rally.

I can give you the guy's contact info. It was very reasonably priced. He does FD headlights too....

PLease PM info. Car is gutted right now and has 11 weeks to be complete. Might try to squeeze this in.

Is Kevin working on it?

I am also curious to know how much this would cost me on an the FD. Berto, that looks MUCH better. Night visibility is probably not even an issue anymore.

The wires going to the light look stupid thin. I bet I could cut them with my pee stream.

GJ with install though.

Dosen't matter, the voltage is high and current is low so you can have a very small wire.

if its the dude im thinking about hes asking a retarded amount of money to do it when the parts cost about $250 to do it yourself.

They were $450. When I priced the exact same parts it was $350. Please show me different.

Those wires aren't for the light. They are for the flapper for the 'brights'.
