im trying to help my sister-in-laws boyfriend build a computer for a mix of gaming and business (for his dad too). here is a link to some stuff i was looking at, i just want to know if its all compatible and if it would be a decent set up. he was looking at a budget of 500 dollars, however he can swing what the price of the stuff listed is. if anyone has any suggestions (or could go to a website and put one together and send me the link to the cart, that would be great) please let me know. tia.

Looks fine, although im more of an intel guy. Never owned an AMD but everything should work together.

Now, my next question is, if you dont know whats compatible with what, how do you expect to put this together?

I can work on computers, but for me I know how to replace parts. putting one together wouldn't be that big of a deal, I just need to know that it will be able to go together (ie. plugs matching up). I will prolly tell him to get a pre built tower. he just asked me because I guess his cousin built a pretty good system a few years ago for around 500, but I don't want to build him some incompatible piece of shit lol.

Depending on what games he's going to be playing and since you chose the APU chip you may be able to get away with dropping the 7750 altogether... Other than that, should be ok. I will say this, don't cheap out on your power supply or board.

With the I-5 and the GTX460 this thing will smoke on a budget, it will play BF3 on mostly high settings @1920x1080 if that puts it into perspective...

CPU and Vid card are the beasts of this setup and most the costs (remember i5 is actually an i7 without hyperthreading), they are what matter for the amount of money provided. The PSU can be upgraded later if needed, but should be adequate, although reliability is always a concern with cheaper supplies, its the luck of the draw.

If you don't want a refurb on the card it will be about $20-$25 more including shipping for new.

BTW, all prices are from Newegg, and this was list was less than $10 shipping.
