THE COLT v2.0

After being asked 497120342134 times to build another, I was happy to save a clean local chassis that was one foot in the grave.

I am going to toss it together with parts I have laying around collecting dust. I should have all of no money into the thing after its all said an done-I am confident I have enough junk laying around to put it together.

Next to its TDB brother-an 85 RX-7 picked up a few weeks earlier. That will be the long term-winter deal. ;)

This wont be the Busa slayer the old Colt was (for now) but should provide fun for the rest of the season. Making the shootout is a maybe- but with no time between the work, a weekend trip to "The AC" coming up, and not having a motor together, it may not be likely. We will see! Stay tuned to see what parts I dig up for her.

I wouldn't be surprised if that car makes it to the shootout. I was floored when you brought the FC to the shootout, considering you pulled it out of the weeds only a few days before the event.

Literally out of the weeds! LOL.

I was only Bar-tending weekends at the time, so I had a lot more time on my hands! We will see-this one is farther off considering I don't have a motor (Phil and Patterson took my last good ones to Columbus)

I say skip the shootout and make a twin 4g63 colt. Then you can also say its a twin turbo v8... Kinda

Tried that with a CRX

Found enough spare parts to toss a motor together! She"should" hold. :) Crank looked good. rods and Pistons looked good. Did not have my Mic. or Calipers at the house, so it had to pass the EYEBALL test. ;) Poured some Beer on it just in case....

Now, I am a little sketched out about the bearings-never used this brand before, and I am not sure I would use them again. The seem to have a smaller tab to prevent the bearing from spinning that was what in there (presuming Federal-Mogul as thats what I usually use) but its all I had on shelf-and I am pressed for time!

A little hard to see but you get the idea. Opinions on this??

One week.

Can you source a decent set of bearings in time? It would be a shame to see them take out the crank if they fail.

I'm running them-I poped one off any they crushed to spec. The are also to many other "used" parts going in this build to be worried about one sketchy element. The whole thing is sketchy!!! :lolguy:

That's the way to do it. That motor will either live forever...or the crater will be seen from orbit.

these threads are nothing short of entertaining. impressed someone can throw together a car that runs, (let alone runs as fast as these do) with spare parts laying around. props

I agree.

Yes-Head is on-Motor is 100$ assembled sane timing belt-Made a parts run to my storage Unit and found some more goodies. I should have enough to put the car together with some Swag.

Weather it will be done for the shootout still remains to be seen. I wont be able to work on it much until Thursday

Found a useable Head Gasket and some studs and slammed the head on. I am not sure the intake manifold is going to fit (may interfere with the clutch master) so it is loosely bolted up for now

Went to storage and got a couple of bins full of goodeis. I should have enough to do an intercooler set up, all fuel (including cell, the car has no gas door!) and a few odds and ends. I should be ready to start the car with what I have there. 100% spare parts build looks achievable!
