Bought a 39" Hisense from HHGregg last week for $299. Did some research before I bought it (I had never heard of Hisense) and it had good reviews. Talked to a couple knowledgeable people and they said it's a good brand, not junk like some of the other off brand stuff (Coby, Cutris, etc).

^^^ Thats what I bought. And I think Walmart has a 39" Emerson for $320

For the off brands, its tough to go wrong but I'd look for the "house" brands like Emerson or Westinghouse that are basically less high tech LGs

If you want a newer one with a brand name, my friends and I have been very loyal to Vizio and Samsung with no faults.

For what I use on a daily basis, I will never buy anything other than Samsung. The quality and viewing is top notch. No complaints.

Samsung does make a great tv.

That being said, keep an eye on http://slickdeals.net/ until the right deal pops up. Or wait until the pre-Christmas price wars begin.

Yeah I agree, got 2, 51" Plasma Samsung 3D Smart TV (built in WiFi) came with 2 pair of glasses each for 849 a piece to put in the new house. I thought that was a good price. Great picture, light weight, they were easy to mount. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/19/sy4ude3y.jpg
