FS: 03 EVO

I am parting ways with my 2003 EVO. I am the original owner. Mileage is at 79,850 The overall exterior and interior is in decent shape. The car was daily driven by my wife for about its first four years. The past 4 years, it has pretty much sat in the garage and just comes out every once in a while as we both have other daily vehicles. The car has always been garaged its complete history.

The car currently has a set of Dunlop M3 snow tires mounted on it with a decent amount of life left. I also have a set of all season tires that I’ll throw in with the purchase.

Mods

· Buschur Racing full turbo back exhaust

· Buschur Racing race core FMIC and full stainless piping from the turbo to the throttle body

· Tial BOV

· Walbro 255hp fuel pump

· Forced Performance FP4r cams

· AEM cam gears

· Buschur Racing mini battery kit

· Buschur Racing speed density Turbo pipe/k&N filter

· AEM EMS set up for speed density (tuned by myself)

· AEM boost control solenoid

· AEM UEGO wideband setup with cockpit gauge

· AEM serial data stream cockpit gauge

· Exedy Twin Disc Clutch

The Good

The car has been VERY mechanically sound its whole life and has given me no issues. Nothing of significance has ever been repaired on it. The head has never been off. Neither the intake nor exhaust manifolds have ever been off. Even the stock turbo has never been unbolted. The timing belt was changed at 70,000 miles. At this time, the aftermarket cams and gears were put on. The balance shaft belt was also replaced as well as the pulleys and tensioner.

The car has only been to a drag strip once. It was May of 2009 up in Norwalk. The car went 11.98 at 117.xx with a soft 1.7 60’. I didn’t care at the time to push it any further. Back in 2004 and 2005, it saw 1 trip each year to Mid Ohio and ran at a Porsche PCA driving school.

The Issues

· The car needs a clutch. It has been slipping for a number of years at WOT. Because I just putz the car around town, I have never felt the desire to replace it. It is fine for driving around lightly but it does slip under medium load and up. The Exedy twin was put in shortly after the car was purchased so it has given me over 75,000 miles of use. So I have no complaints.

· The reverse syncro is going. The car grinds going into reverse. I haven’t dealt with it since I figured I would just replace it whenever the clutch was done. I just usually start the car in reverse when I know I’m backing up. Lol. All forward gears are fine and the car shifts great.

· Brake pads are grinding a little. I think it is the rear but I have not pulled the wheels off to inspect

· The rear trunk deck has a significant rust spot under the wing (on the driver’s side). This has been there for a long time and just something that I never had the desire to have a body shop deal with. The actual wing and carbon fiber is in good shape compared to most EVOs that I see out there this old.

I hate to see the car go but it honestly just sits here and I could use the space. I’m trying to aggressively price the car at $11.5k OBO under the assumption that the new owner will need to deal with the clutch issue. I contemplated changing the clutch and selling it but my thought is to sell it much lower and let the new owner put exactly what they want in it.

The car ran on E85 and 1000cc injectors for a number of years. I have since switched it back to gas and stock injectors. I am willing to sell the car with either map and injectors depending on the new owner’s preference.

I have received a lot of PM's about the car. At this point, I am going to stop answering all of the PM's on various forums as I have a line of people calling dibs. So there are various meetings set up through the week. I will update the status in the thread over the coming days as to whether the car is still available after the first wave of people see it.
