Benner
Thinking about heading out this afternoon for a little fishing but never gone during the winter. Any tactics you guys use for cold water? Going to Alum
spankis
Be prepared for very gentle bites, very hard to notice. Fish aren't nearly as active in the winter, and generally don't feed as much as every process in their digestion/metabolism slows down. Also, depending on what species you're seeking, certain areas can hold large amounts of fish in the wintertime. Spots near feeder creeks, and sometimes slightly shallower areas where fish can sun themselves are popular in the wintertime. Some friends and I have been known to fish the warm-water discharges along ohio's rivers lol. Not at all natural, but sometimes the fishing benefits hugely.
