Green Bastard
Maybe a local sheriffs office could help you out, if not I'm sure they could point you in the right direction.
BigOxley
Leadsonline maybe? I'm not sure if there is search function, but it's worth a check
stangsn95gt
If I have any doubts about buying a gun from someone I don't know Ill walk away without it. Its good practice to use something like this whether buying or selling. http://familysafeathome.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/docs/billofsale.218155746.pdf
HotCarl
I have a few friends in law enforcement, I just text them the number and ask them to run it before i buy it. If it shows up as stolen i would assume they would want to recover it. If you dont know anyone try calling CPD or the Sheriff's office. Furloaf
Yeah the only thing that could come back is if it is reported as stolen. If it is: congratulations, you're in possession of stolen property. The time to do a serial check is before you buy it.
street pilot
I tried this once. I called the police and sheriff, both referred me to each other and could barely understand my question. I ended up calling the attorney general who basically informed me that if a serial was flagged as stolen this would be considered evidence or part of an investigation so they would not release the information to me. Fuck it. What a rat race. If they can't give us a means of checking these things I'll just buy without checking.

sol740
Just file down all the serial numbers, and hold it sideways. All problems solved.
