If its already fogging over its too late to replace the gas. I've got a company coming Thursday to give an estimate. I'll let you know, Evan9381, what they tell me. Mensan Posted March 18, 2013 Report Share Posted March 18, 2013 In a dual pane window there is a frame of aluminum and desiccant sandwiched between two pieces of glass. there is a seal caulked all the way around the window. When the seal breaks, moisture comes in, and the desiccant no longer works. To fix the issue, the frame needs to be replaced along with the glass. They will either take your window apart and fix it (very unlikely) or recommend that you replace it (which is the smartest choice anyway). I'm in the same boat. We are getting the house ready to sell and don't want to replace the windows. Hoping this will work and will be a cheaper option. The new buyer can replace if they want to.
