Proud Day: Grandfather Grand Marshal at Grove City Parade

Recommended Posts

Though the day started out damp and dreary, my 92 year old Grandfather, Howard proudly filled the position as Grand Marshal today at the Grove City Memorial Day Parade. My Grandfather is an ARMY WWII & Korean War Veteran that earned the Bronze Star along with 2 Bronze Clusters. He has been written about in a book titled, "Men of Valor: Combat Stories of WWII Veterans from Southern Ohio and Eastern Kentucky" (see amazon) and has been married to my Grandmother for 63 years. Today was a very proud moment for all of my family and I hope you enjoy the few photos I took.

That's great and a huge thanks to him for his service. I'll be looking up his book. I know how proud I was when my great grandfather (turning 103 in July, still self sufficient) was grand marshal. Kudos to him too. He does in fact seem to be in good health.

Men of his time faught a fight that most today aren't hard enought to handle. Valor was a matter of honor and not a punchline for those of lesser salt to mock men of determination toward the mission.

Congrats to you and your family for being there to share that with him.
