ShoMeSomeFun
I have a running vehicle with a 302 bored out to a 306 (motor/tranny has less than ten miles on it). I bought this motor as a turn-key crate motor. However it does not feel like it has 400hp as advertised and is slow and does not have any hump to it. My G35 is way quicker than my truck (88 ranger). So is there anybody I can take this to that can do a proper check on my motor and make sure its setup correctly and hopefully get it running right. Its a carb'd setup so Im thinking that floats or something else might be stuck or the secondaries aren't opening up as the truck and motor usually just sits as I spend most of my time overseas, but I came home on vacation just recently and drove it for the first time and it was a disappointment to say the least. Also any idea on price? I.E. hourly rate? Thanks.

ShoMeSomeFun
Thanks, but I already have a lot of money in it the way its wired already and don't know if I really want to pay someone 50-90 an hr to do it all over again. Id like to get it running good the way it sits. Also Im overseas right now so calling is easier said then done, Ill send you a PM.
schmuckingham
Its probably not a 306 and if it is, it doesnt make
ShoMeSomeFun
Your probably right about the 400hp at crank, its just what the crate dealer said it could possibly make but it doesn't feel like it even makes 200hp. But I haven't smashed the pedal down either just a 5 mile cruise to see what it would run like and it shouldn't have felt as slow as it did. I feel like my old fox body (84) was faster than this thing and this motor has aluminum heads/intake, fuel cell, etc. I know its a 306 to be sure though. If I got screwed over on the crate motor I have second block that Ill probably just go to 331 and dump extra money into. Id like to save some money on this one though and have an expert look at it. ShoMeSomeFun
Im overseas so its not an option, so I rather just have someone check it out. It idles fine and revs fine, its just loud and not much go.
