Orion
So, I work in energy. That means that I must keep abreast of the commodities market. In doing so, I have become more aware of all of the interesting interconnections between certain things, more aware of the "moving parts" in the world. For instance, have a read here... http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/afp/130813/chill-us-russian-relations-dims-disarmament-hopes It seems that Obama would like to continue down the path of disarmament, but maybe the Russians are not so eager to right now. Now, taken on it's own, you might say that this is just an example of a world leader trying to do a good thing for the world, and you'd probably be (at least a little bit) right. BUT, is there more to this story? http://www.usec.com/russian-contracts/megatons-megawatts Wait, what? So, the disarmed Russian nukes are then being purchased by the .gov, converted, and sold to the US energy industry to power my computer? HOLY SHIT, my computer is BOMB POWERED!!! But seriously, how ingenious of a lever is that to use, politically? And really, why would Russia be uninterested in selling off some more of the nukes it will most likely never use? http://eng.globalaffairs.ru/number/The-Sum-Total-of-All-Fears-15935 http://english.pravda.ru/world/europe/05-07-2011/118396-nato_russia-0/ So, the Russian conventional military is crumbling, and they are nervous about China being the new Asian superpower. I would want to hold on to some extra nukes too, if I were them. And this is just barely scratching the surface. I encourage you to think about some things in your world, look for the connections between them that aren't obvious right away.

madpony
I must agree, there are many things we do not know about,, they have a motive, then figure out a good cover plan for the public, it goes hush hush as the plan is implemented, if it goes wrong they cover up & if get found out.. another B.S. story is fed to us. We will most likely never know what the ulterior motive is for most of the games,, we are the sheep and as a whole will accept whatever we have been told. It is the same thing with our jobs we hold,, upper management decides to change things up, it makes no sense to do what their saying, but you need to follow thru with it, even though you know it will fail, cost more money & there are reasons as to why, but you will never find out. The Internet has been a double sided sword for the movers / shakers of this world, it does not take much to start a story & spread it quickly,, also to be able to spread the truth when found out. The days of newsprint are over and the new age of information is upon us.. If it's on the Internet, it must be true.. Stock up on guns & ammo
Mensan
There's a plant in southern Ohio that converts weapons grade uranium into power plant grade. They're pretty busy (and growing).
