"a 127-hp electric motor sits at the front axles and another (154 hp) slots between the engine and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. In all, Porsche says the 918 will go from 0-62 mph in just 2.8 seconds." That's 887hp combined. The wheels are ugly, I think they look like a ring of cock & balls. wagner
Just read about the test mule of this and everything that went into it. Pretty badass stuff, and yes, those wheels are a bit dickish
AudiOn19s
I've read reports from guys who got demo rides in them at the Track. Said it's a pretty amazing machine however the electric motors are only good for one maybe two laps around the track before they are out of juice and need to be recharged. There's video of it somewhere I'll see if I can dig it up.
Not Brian
a prius with some cock and balls
Draco-REX
Best looking consumer Porsche yet, despite the wheels.
AudiOn19s
FYI - Ring time: 6:
CRed05
I was just looking at lap times on the ring, and 6:57 is one second faster than what Niki Lauda did in an F1 car, almost exactly 38 years ago.
SpaceGhost
Um that 's the fastest street car around the ring.... Sub 7 min is fookin' stupid. I don't consider that British car a street car.
bmwohio
FYI - Ring time: 6:57 Beat me to it....but here's the on-board of the full lap. Any sub-7 minute lap on the Ring is a big accomplishment in my book.......Enjoy!
Versluis
Watched that ring video last night. Car sounds good and flys around the track. Pretty impressed but still wished it was all motor and no electric motors.

If it had a KERS system that could keep up with the electric demands, though.......:megusta:
POS VETT
Form following function, if it looks good it's a bonus. I could not care any less how the wheels look like on a Porsche 918.
SpaceGhost
I like the whole car, Price: 911 base or a 918? I'd rather have the 918.

CRed05
I think I will take a 918 over a 911 too.

For that money, you can afford some new shoes for your 918 and donate the cockwheels to some poor CGT driver.
SpaceGhost
I must have read the article wrong.... And as expected, the 918 Spyder will be available with some pricey options. A Weissach package, for example, is priced at almost the same MSRP as a base 911 and shaves off 77 pounds from the hybrid's curb weight thanks to items like magnesium wheels and titanium brake pad backing plates. As I read this now, I guess just the package is the same MSRP as a 911. When I first read it I thought it meant the entire car.
POS VETT
The 918 makes the Carrera GT looking like a bargain basement.
