Propane heater for shop/out building

I have a 28x40 shop that has a Reznor ceiling heating in it. The heat exchangers are bad = replace the thing. It has a 58,500 BTU output. I'm looking to stay in the same range, but open to hear it others have found less works fine, or more output would be better. The propane is already set up. I don't want a floor/wall unit, because I don't want to lose and space.

The pricing seems good, but admittedly, I'm pretty uninformed and am looking for some guidance here.

I found mine on craigslist for around $100 last year. But then again I wasn't picky. I just needed natural gas and something that worked.

 

I'd stay away from the radiant heat ones. I had one an it was on for hours and never heated up my garage. I needed something with a fan.

I'm not too picky either. Just need something that will work.

 

Am I guessing the one I have and linked are radiant ones?

That heatstar seems like a low output for the size place your heating at 36K BTU. Make sure it is vented properly.

Yes that looks adequate. I dont know much about actual heating units themselves(brands) but I deal a lot with the plumbing aspect of it. Make sure the venting is right other then that you should be good to go.

It's the one I'm leaning toward. Looking to pull the trigger this week, once I'm pretty sure I'm informed and found a good deal. Already have a wall thermostat set up, but will be replacing it with something newer than the current one from 1972.

Go by the input BTU rating. That's considered a 75k btu model not 58500. Just to help give you an idea of what is comparable.

 

I guess if you are looking at all models output you can find something along the same lines, but it might be easier to locate models at 75k.

 

Be a pimp and buy a big money clean burn. I want a oil burn furnace really bad but don't want to fork over the money. Especially when I can buy other furnaces at the cost that I can and run off of natural gas.
