Chief8one
All jokes aside, My roommate has a 2000 Passat wagon and the fan blower motor stopped working. I was thinking possibly a relay? I figured I would throw it on CR real quick and see what the thoughts were.
Geeesammy
Either test the relay or run power right to the blower motor itself. It looks like it only has a 2 pin connector. Hopefully it's not the blower motor resistor, I'm sure that's a pricey gizmo.
Chief8one
I can turn bolts all day.. but when it comes to electronics, I have no idea
Geeesammy
Lots of info online explaining how to test relay's. Most are very simple as long as you can understand the diagram that shows the high side and low side. Running power directly to the wheel is easy, all you need is a power source and a set of test leads. Worst comes to worst yank out the battery and use that as the 12v source. A Google search brought up a fairly informative thread. http://www.passatworld.com/forums/68-b5-garage/224325-advice-blower-motor-wont-turn.html This is a good, short video explaining the basics of relay testing. acklac7
Stopped working period? Or stopped working on every speed? Mah sister has a Jetta from that era (its a gigantic pile of shit), blower motor kept acting up (only working on high speed) and several shops kept throwing resistors at it. Ended up being the Blower switch that was faulty.
zeitgeist57
Is it a digital climate control display (GLS, GLX), or knob/dials (base)? My GLX with auto climate control has had a friggin' mind of it's own for the last couple of years. I live with it.
AverageBlackman
I only know up to 96 but a common problem on the models I've had (ranging from. 83-96) was faulty ground on the blower. Replace it and see what happens.

Is it digital climate control, or manual climate control?
