This just seems like a rolling frame with lego's built up around it. But maybe it is just me. I'm morr interested in the theory behind the engine that the vehicle itself, how it start's, how exactly rev's are controlled, and how it actually makes power.

To a degree yes. I wouldn't want to be in it if a car hits it, if the lego car is in a single car accident... Well I don't think it would be capable of damaging itself too badly let alone the driver or anyone else in the car.
