Snowflake
I'm going in halves on a 1/2 a cow and I believe I was told the 1/4 cow I'm getting is 125lbs. What size freezer chest would it take to hold that?
KillJoy
Think of it this way, if you bought 125 1-LB Steaks, how much room would be required? KillJoy
Green Bastard
My parents have I believe a 14 cubic foot freezer (I will double check to make sure next time I go over there) and it held a half a cow (with a little room to spare). Hope this helps.
Duff1647545513
I'll have to double check as to what mine is, but I know it isn't anything too big and I get 1/3 cow every year and it fits no problem. I only paid $140 for the freezer brand new at Sam's club

KillJoy I can't count that high My parents have I believe a 14 cubic foot freezer (I will double check to make sure next time I go over there) and it held a half a cow (with a little room to spare). Thanks, a cubic ft was exactly what I was looking for I'll have to double check as to what mine is, but I know it isn't anything too big and I get 1/3 cow every year and it fits no problem. Akula
I can put 1/2 a cow in my upright full sized deep freezer, and 200 chickens. Small chest freezer will fit 1/4 easily.
gillbot
We got a 1/4 a bit back when we split a 1/2 with the father-in-law. In total, we got about 80lbs of meat. It wasn't nearly as much as we were expecting to be honest but every butcher/cow is different. When we picked up the 1/2, all of it easily fit in a shopping cart. Our 1/4 was (I think) 4 brown grocery bags full total so that should give you an idea volume wise.
