StackedDimes
Anybody on here run caltracs and actually can adjust somewhat well?
vonrottes
I can talk to my dad, see how he was tuning them on his trans-am
TurboNova
What's your truck doing you can put some preload in bars if the car is leaving left or right. You can use the top or bottom hole depending how hard you want to hit the tires. Pinion angle if needed to be adjusted needs to be done with shims if you are far out. What's your pinion angle now... What tire and what shock Can be tricky but work
StackedDimes
They are the drag profile ones. Im footbraking at 1.74 60'. It was doing a 1.72 on stock suspension with drag radials trough the stock 10 bolt. This year it got a 9" and the caltracs. Running the radials at about 13psi. Et street radials. Pinion angle is -2*. Has some preload on the bars. Just don't know if this is going to be the best or there is room for inprovement in the suspension tuning. TurboNova
Leafs and radials rely heavily on shocks .... What is it doing.. Did it spin on the hit or hook and spin 20 ft out? What shocks... And your tire pressure seems low most the time you want between 16-19 in a radial
StackedDimes
On the passes so far it hooked but not as hard as it usually does. The shocks are competition engineering 3 way adjustables. I'm 17 so budget is low low low.
StackedDimes
13psi and some preload finally made it hook.
TurboNova
Trans brake/2 step. Or just foot brake? There is not much to it on a lower power car Once you make enough power to blow the tires off it will be time for real shocks. If you are just footbrake it, it's time for a tbrake. StackedDimes
I have a glide with a transbrake ready to go. All I need is a shifter and cable. Just don't have the money.
Nickey4271647545519
Are you lowered on blocks? And your tire pressure seems low most the time you want between 16-19 in a radial I'd try Dans advice on tire pressure. Personally I've seen people not hook on 16-17psi and actually bump it to 19-21psi, which made the tire work.
StackedDimes
Yeah it has 2" blocks in the rear. Last year I was running them on 15psi and had a dead hook every single time. I tried 20 and 18 psi and still blew them off with like a 2.18 60. Friday at trails it'll get more preload and tire pressures adjusted again.
