4.7L Dakota Ticking noise - Lifters

I believe that it is a failing lifter which from what I know is a common issue on the Dodge 4.7L motors.

140k miles.

Question is if I should replace all the lifters on both sides or just the lifters on the ticking side? Any issues with only doing one side?

Thanks,

Rich

You could probably get away with replacing the ones that are ticking, however I would replace them all so you don't have to worry about it later.

Also check to see if you have an exhaust leak coming off one of the manifolds, I thought I had a ticking lifter (4.7 durango) but where the studs got worn and streched at the y-pipe and manifold it caused a leak.

Are you sure its not a exhaust manifold gasket? They are notorious for leaking at the manifold sounding exactly like a tick..

It is possible. It's my buddy's truck and I haven't seen it with this issue yet. I'll check for that as well.
