pontiacfreak142
Short story, Dads fox mustang developed a nasty vibration about 2 years ago. due to outside issues the car sat until about 2 weeks ago. We seperted the converter from the motor, vibration was still there, so we tried a new balancer, no luck either. Pulled the motor apart to find that a side wall to one of the pistons had broke off, but was still hanging on for the ride (was still going up and down with the rest of the piston). Got a new piston and the rest were all pulled and checked for damage. Got the motor back together yesterday and all though not as bad, the vibration is still there at about 3000 rpm, but subsides at idle and when revved about 3k. Any ideas? nurkvinny
A new balancer or a new-to-you balancer? Just asking...

DKilbourne
The stock balancers are known to push the rubber bushing deal out of them and vibrate. Try a new balancer i.e. brand new and report back.

Miller
Motor and tranny mounts? That would be my guess. Is it a stutter or ignition issue? Is it possibly breaking up? Edited August 21, 2014 by Miller
Green Bastard
Since you only replaced one piston it could be possible that it is a slightly different weight than the rest which could cause a vibration. Not saying that is it, just putting an idea on the table.
pontiacfreak142
That would be my guess. Is it a stutter or ignition issue? Is it possibly breaking up? Nope not breaking up. Took it to trails tonight and ran 12.7 (12.5 is best ever before original vibration) but was also hot and humid to.

Never had a vibration after that one
