zeitgeist57
Nickey was talking about ceramic-bearing turbochargers at CC&C recently, and I've been wondering how long the turbos have been on the market. Does anyone have experiences with them? Sounds like an impressive automotive technology leap! Not sure if a smaller turbo is available, or how long they can go before being rebuilt or re-greased (in the attached example)... http://compturbo.com/spotlights/oil-less
Patterson
Comp has had them for 3 or 4 years that I know of. Neat stuff.
Smokey
Cool idea. Any more info on sizes/flow/performance? How often do they need to have the grease serviced in higher heat applications?
coltboostin
Cool idea. Any more info on sizes/flow/performance? How often do they need to have the grease serviced in higher heat applications? Man I though this was common knowledge? Basically any BB turbo in their lineup can be oil-less (really, all they do is stuff their regular BB CHRA with grease) They are fully serviceable, but not sure of claimed longevity. I know a few people running them, none of which has locked up (yet) Air Bearing turbos have been around even longer, but none I know specifically for Automotive suppliers. http://www.nasa.gov/centers/glenn/about/fs14grc.html People that make them http://www.ofttech.com/ And fix them http://www.airbearingsolutions.co.uk/about-us
