Missing craigslist couple in Georgia

I haven't been following this story as closely as I would like, but I can't imagine what this family is going through right now. The excitement this couple must have been feeling driving the 180 miles to go possibly purchase a '66 Mustang like the one Bud had after returning home from Vietnam, only to be met by some low-life that killed them for money. Truly a sad story and I feel terrible for their friends and family.

Carry a gun. Carry a bigger gun, if dealing with craigslist "deals"... It's a messed up world.

Carrying a gun may seem proactive, but it's inherently reserved for a reactive situation. What should be established is an agreed upon safe place to meet.

So sad as the couple appeared to be genuinely caring people.

This. The advantage someone has in this situation is the element of surprise, not the weapon itself. The couple having a gun would not have leveled the playing field, it would just have increased the odds of the bad guy recovering another gun in addition to the cash he was seeking.

Take away the advantage by being smart about your meeting places and you discourage bad situations in the first place.

This is a really tragic story. my heart goes out to the family.

+1 I will typically have people just meet me at the police station parking lot for craigslist stuff if I am buying or selling.

Real sad. I just sold a transfer case on craigslist and wanted to pull my 38 out and shoot them both. Nagging, crying, had to split the transfer case in half for inspection, wanted and WARRANTY and then tried jewin me down!!! FML. No, Not worthy of ever shootin someone over that. Just a rant on how fed up I was two nights ago!
