The excitement this couple must have been feeling driving the 180 miles to go possibly purchase a '66 Mustang like the one Bud had after returning home from Vietnam, only to be met by some low-life that killed them for money. The advantage someone has in this situation is the element of surprise, not the weapon itself. The couple having a gun would not have leveled the playing field, it would just have increased the odds of the bad guy recovering another gun in addition to the cash he was seeking. Take away the advantage by being smart about your meeting places and you discourage bad situations in the first place. This is a really tragic story. my heart goes out to the family. Nagging, crying, had to split the transfer case in half for inspection, wanted and WARRANTY and then tried jewin me down!!! FML. No, Not worthy of ever shootin someone over that.
