S-13 Posted April 29, 2009 Report Share Posted April 29, 2009 My friend has a '73 honda 750 that is having problems with the transmission. The first time I took it out it was having a really hard time going from 2nd gear back to 1st. It was like it hit a wall and you would have to slam the shifter down to get it back to first/neutral. Then it wouldn't stay in 2nd gear from first, you would have to hold the shifter up with your toe to make it stay in 2nd or it would fall back out of gear into neutral. I was told by a friend that it is a common problem with older 750's that the shift forks go bad. I don't know much about transmission, but that sounds like it could be accurate.
