Anyone have a stripped lower for sale????=}

 

It's usually a good idea to test a lower to make sure its in spec before you go through with SBRing it. Build it and toss a 16" or longer barreled upper on it and run a couple hundred rounds through it. If its out of spec and you don't do this you'll be kicking yourself.

 

Along with buying a Gun Envy lower (which are fine, I own one), you can choose from many different manufacturers have it shipped to Gun Envy pretty cheaply. Here are some options:

I've personally ordered stuff from all of these places, and ALWAYS been happy. I'd recommend not getting a polymer lower, like New Frontier. If you want a billet, MidwestPX and Joe Bob's both have their own branded ones very cheap.

 

After looking at those links I noticed a couple brands I'm not familiar with, but for the most part everything they have listed is solid. For what its worth I've never heard of anyone having any problems with a Mega, they are great. I have 3 of my own.

To hit on a couple of things here:

 

1. You CAN let friends shoot it.

2. You CANNOT let friends possess it unless they are on your trust.

3. You can only make an SBR with the stamp. Full auto/burst is limited to (for civilian use) "transferable machineguns"

4. You CAN run different caliber uppers on the SBR lower.

5. I normally put "25.5" as my overall length on an SBR form 1

6. Current wait time is 45-60 days (and growing) on turnaround from sub date electronically.

7. Go to gun envy and buy a lower. Have them engrave it there. They have a package deal going on right now.

 

 

Keep in mind if you buy a lower for 45.00 bucks online you are least at 65.00 because of a 20 dollar transfer. You also (for the example above)have to pay for shipping. Which should put you in the ballpark of 80 (45+15+20) bucks to take it home... buying on for 70.00-90.00 at a local gun shop is about the same end result in terms of "cost" when you whack it up.

I might try to go up to gun envy and check there's out when I get off work today. I was looking at the spikes lowers but I can't find a local dealer

Mega forged lowers have the tensioning screw in them if you start to get any slop in them. That's what I would get if it was going to be my sbr lower.

 

If not that then gun envy.

Well, you can never just buy one. The more you buy, the lower each unit costs.

 

I'd love to see the $36 Tapco lowers come back. There was a small run of them, most likely made on Grizzly LAR equipment since they are both part of Freedom Group. Great quality, regardless of the price.
