Barrett M95

I have a buddy that wants to pick one of these up.

2 magazines, 200 rounds, scope, range finder, etc.

I know that isn't much info, but he said it was $10,000. Is that too much? Any good examples for sale right now?

Gun 5600-5800 shipped

Magazine - 150.00

200 rds - 600.00 (Assuming ball ammo)

Scope - 100.00 - 12,000.00 (but lets say 1100.00 assuming its a leupold mk4)

Range Finder - ?

Regardless, Assuming the scope is about a G... I would not pay 10K for an M95.... If you are going to pay 10K for a complete barrett rifle system you might as well buy an M107.

Awesome thanks, this is why I asked.

I got back to him with this and he was convinced he was getting a semi-auto M95... I finally convinced him the M95 was bolt action and he is set on getting a semi auto.

What are the differences between the 82 and 107? Either worth getting over the other?

M107 is an aluminum body and has a QD suppressor brake

M82a1 is a steel body with their notable spikey-arrow-shaped brake.

What is he trying to do with the gun? shoot shorter distances (100-600) for fun and entertain? Or get more serious and shoot long range (mile+-)

If his heart is set on a Barrett and he only plans on shooting "for fun to make his friends smile" then this would be a good route... Scope included.

He is more the "for fun to make his friends smile".

Sounds like he should lean towards the 82 like you mentioned.

Any recommended examples on gunbroker or armslist?

Slickguns.com

Sometimes that very setup can be had for 8500-8700 when its on sale. but 9K is still a worthy price.

Then again... I'm not a Barrett Guy....

Better choices exist (but aren't semiauto)

I'm very happy with mine. It's very accurate.

The other one I'd look at would be....

Well he bought an M82a1. Paid $11,000 for it.

The guy who sold it to him convinced him he was an ex military guy with connections to guns and accessories nobody else could get. David Hannum is right again.

I'll upload pictures/details when he gets it in.

I'll keep this updated, but my guess is he got hosed.

Well, Im sure it had to have come with a scope/etc. he didn't buy it from a gun store did he? Those places charge about 10-11K for a bare gun.

But, assuming its got the Leupold and a BORS and some ammo its not too terribly far off from what he could have spent if he was pinching pennies.
